Our History

Haruna’s founder, Harish Dalpatram, has been working with textiles since he was a small child. He used to help out at his dad’s tailoring shop in Fiji, so he quickly grasped a deep understanding of how to work with different fabrics.

Harish settled in Canada and completed his education in Vancouver. His love for the outdoors led him to work in Recreation for the Vancouver School Board and Parks Board. Thereafter, he spent a year travelling across Europe and India, before returning to Vancouver to set up Haruna.

“I’m very passionate about what I do and how I do it,” explains Harish. “It’s very intricate work, and I have to be satisfied – I’m a perfectionist at heart. I love working with the boating community and I get to meet lots of interesting people.”
